An 80's Christmas

First off let me say that my commentary below takes nothing away from the heart of what this song was all about. Imagine what this world would be like if we all had the vision and heart of Bob Geldof. That being said…. See how many mullets you count was you watch this video. It’s got to be double digits. I included Phil Collins because it appeared that the “party in the back” was creeping over his shirt collar. I always thought it was cool that Sting got to sing a lyric with his name in it. Does Bono have … Continue reading An 80's Christmas

Encouragement for Wednesday

Tonight I sat down to write a post and I just can’t find the words. I wanted to do something about some very heavy prayer requests. I was going to explain that I believe we should “approach the throne of grace with confidence” (Hebrews 4:16) yet so often my finite understanding of an infinite God gets in the way. My struggle to make sense of everything hinders my ability to ask for anything. In my search through scripture and various authors, musicians, videos and speakers, I found this. Many have probably seen the incredible Laminin video by Louie Giglio. This … Continue reading Encouragement for Wednesday

Give Me Your Eyes

There is no other song that lyrically describes where my head is right now. You might have noted that in posts like this one, this one, and this one. Or maybe here, here and even here. I guess the point is that God has been working on this area of my life for several weeks. To hear and see this video this morning was right on time. Again, lyrically, it sums it up. I couldn’t help but note that it takes place in an airport. Many of those posts come from my time in the same places. It doesn’t matter … Continue reading Give Me Your Eyes

Four For Friday

This weeks “Four For Friday” has many ulterior motives. The first is just another shameless plug reminder to help me win the “S.L.O.B of the Month” by clicking through to the blog of MercyMe in the link in the sidebar. Secondly I thought I would give my Buddy Bart a shout out for his new CD “Hymned Again” which hits the streets August 19th. Lastly, for those in Ohio, MercyMe will be at Great American Ballpark on Sunday. With that out of the way, I give you this weeks “Four For Friday”. I was going to give you my four … Continue reading Four For Friday

Next Time We Meet….

It’s T-Minus 14 hours until “The Streak” official ends. The next time we meet, I will be less one gall bladder and, from what I hear, pretty sore in the abdomen for a few days. There’s no rest for the weary as I have pending meetings in Indianapolis Wednesday and Thursday. I’m hoping this is more of a “drive-thru” variety surgery. Just for kicks I might try to twitter a few updates in the morning (“They are rolling me down the hall” or “I’m going under now”…) In my absence, feel free to check out the sidebar for some recent … Continue reading Next Time We Meet….

One Last Lecture

I just opened up Yahoo to find the sad news that Randy Pausch has passed. By now I am sure that you have probably seen this video. It is all over Youtube. If, on the off chance you have not seen this, take the next 10:10 to watch it. If you have seen it before, you might take the same 10:10 and watch it again. Randy understood the impact and legacy that we leave. He also understood the power of “Chasing Daylight” and “Seizing a Divine Moment”. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Pausch family today. … Continue reading One Last Lecture

Stayin’ Alive

The guys over at MercyMe recently started a new thing on their blog. They call it the “Cover Tune Grab Bag“. They are covering the songs as requested by the readers on their blog. To kick it off they did “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. Contrary to popular belief, it is not me on the acoustic guitar in this clip. Look for many more covers from the “Cover Tune Grab Bag”. Continue reading Stayin’ Alive
