One Last Christmas

I was listening to Air1 today and they told this incredible behind the music story of the latest offering by Matthew West called “One Last Christmas”. As you may or may not know, when preparing for his latest CD, Matthew West spent time in a cabin writing music based on stories that people had emailed to him. The story of Dax Locke was one of the many he received. WARNING: This video has been known to cause a tear or two. For more information about how you can help the Locke family you can visit Matthew West’s web site (HERE) Continue reading One Last Christmas

Dancing in the Minefields

Double post Thursday!! I usually don’t have this many youtube videos back-to-back but this one needed to make it to the web. One of my favorite songs is a song by Andrew Peterson called “The Chasing Song“. One of the many reasons I like that song is because it tells a great story. Great songs tell great stories. Andrew Peterson is a great story teller. His latest project “Counting Stars” features a song called “Dancing in the Minefields”. I post this today because there is so much truth in this song. If you’re married, this song will resonate with you as … Continue reading Dancing in the Minefields

World Cup Madness

I don’t watch soccer. I don’t play soccer. My kids don’t play soccer. We don’t own a soccer ball and I didn’t celebrate when The Columbus Crew won the Championship. The closest I have ever been to a Crew game was I drove by the stadium while one was going on once. I don’t know the players and I don’t follow the teams. It doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with soccer. I just don’t follow it. I have several friends that do all of the above. One thing I do understand is their passion and love for a sport. … Continue reading World Cup Madness

Believe?

Quick update this morning before I have to head off to “The Mother-ship” in Indianapolis (Corporate Headquarters) for  a few days. I went on a quick 5 mile run early this morning. Somewhere around mile 2, this song hit the iPod. I lost count of how many times I hit repeat over the next 4 miles. I couldn’t get enough of it. It energized me, challenged me, reminded me, inspired me and got my blood going (I am NOT a morning person or runner). I post it now so that maybe it will do the same for you today. One … Continue reading Believe?

Letter To Me

I can’t get this song/thought out of my head today. Somehow, I stumbled across this song by Brad Paisley yesterday. I like the concept of the song and the video that goes with it. So for the past 24 hours or so (even in my sleep), I have been thinking of the many things I would write to myself at age 17. Obviously it’s not possible, but taking the time to reflect on the many lessons learned the past (*cough*) 21 (*cough*) years has been interesting. Let me just say that the letter would be REALLY long. Knowing me..at 17…I … Continue reading Letter To Me

Surrender

This song came across the iPod recently and caught my attention. Ironically enough, it came on at a time when I was reaching the end of a very long run. My legs were weakening and my strength was all but gone. I couldn’t help but think how fitting it was that sometimes it takes a complete break down of our will, our thoughts, or strength to surrender to the Lords will. I cannot personally listen to the words  in a moment of quiet and not be somewhat broken. What a reminder today of who we are and what we are … Continue reading Surrender

Rainy Day?

You have GOT to check this out. One of my “Twitter Friends” Matthew Costner put this link up today and I had to check it out. I’m borrowing the video from his blog so hopefully he doesn’t mind. This guy (Coffey?) did a remake of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and made it a worship song. Dude can sing! For more on Coffey Anderson, check his blog. HT: Matthew Costner Continue reading Rainy Day?

Going Through The Motions

Kenny Chesney once sang the following: “We all have a song that somehow stamped our lives takes us to another place and time” I recently posed the question on facebook “what was your song and why?”. One of the responses was the Matthew West song “The Motions”. I recently did some follow up on that song and found out some interesting things that I was not aware of. Check this out: In 2007, doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center in Nashville discovered a vascular polyp and hemorrhaged blood vessels on West’s vocal chord.  In addition to undergoing surgery, he was … Continue reading Going Through The Motions

I Just Felt Like Running…

I’ll be flying running solo for the Reindeer Run on Saturday at Easton. I’m still fighting a bad wheel (hip) so it will be interesting to see what the time and pace will be. It’s too bad we’re not doing this on a track. Since it’s my left leg I would have a natural pull to the left that would’ve helped. I’ll have highlights results and a picture or two next week. We got our “Moju Project” shirts in the mail today so if you’re over at Easton Saturday morning, look for the really slow runner with a limp and … Continue reading I Just Felt Like Running…

An 80’s Christmas

First off let me say that my commentary below takes nothing away from the heart of what this song was all about. Imagine what this world would be like if we all had the vision and heart of Bob Geldof. That being said…. See how many mullets you count was you watch this video. It’s got to be double digits. I included Phil Collins because it appeared that the “party in the back” was creeping over his shirt collar. I always thought it was cool that Sting got to sing a lyric with his name in it. Does Bono have … Continue reading An 80’s Christmas
