Save A Place For Me

I seem to be on somewhat of a youtube posting trend lately. That being said, this song rocked my little world last week. With the recent passing of my Mom, songs like this one can really tug at the heart. There is one lyric that really jumped out at me. It is so true for how I honor my Mom and remember her life. It has become my prayer: I wanna live my life just like you did Make the most of my time just like you did And I wanna make my home up in the sky Just like … Continue reading Save A Place For Me

Painful Prayers

As we enter this week that means so much to the Christian faith, I thought this clip by Mark Driscoll would help set the stage. I have posted this clip multiple times, but it is for no other reason than I need the reminder myself. How do you pray in the painful times? How do you pray when it just doesn’t seem to make sense? How do you pray when you are troubled? Maybe this clip will help us all in those times. “Don’t get me out of it…get me through it” Continue reading Painful Prayers

I’m Singing!

I just received an email from a dear friend and member of our House Church that lost a loved one last night to cancer. My heart grieves for her and her loss. Having just lost my Mom 3 weeks ago today, I know the valley that she walks through. During my Mom’s final journey, some incredible things happened through the artist Kari Jobe and her CD. I post this as an encouragement to our friend today and to you all as well. Please lift up our friend and her family as the go through this difficult time. Keep singing friends. National Day of Prayer

We’re listening Lord, You have our attention. Our friends lost their house The co-worker lost her job The couple next door lost their retirement It seems that everyone is losing their footing This scares us. This bailout with billions. These rumblings of depression. These headlines: ominous, thunderous- “Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What Next?” What is next? We’re listening. And we’re admitting: You were right. You told us this would happen. You shot straight about loving stuff and worshipping money. Greed will break your heart, you warned. Money will love you and leave you. Don’t put your hope in … Continue reading National Day of Prayer

Prayer Requests

Inspired by my wife and with a little “push” by my good friend “D-Rich”, I recently started running jogging. Don’t tell either of them, but I am secretly enjoying it. My knees are not enjoying it nearly as much as my mind though. Anyone that has run knows that so much of the battle is mental. It’s pushing yourself to another goal and beyond what you perceive as pain. It’s digging in deep to find something that will carry you the next mile. I recently discovered something that really helps… prayer. I have been amazed at how quickly that next … Continue reading Prayer Requests

12:00

Many of you are praying for our friend Stef. Last night we had the priviledge of attending a very special prayer meeting with the choir at our church. The suggestion has been made that each day at 12:00 we stop whatever we are doing and say a prayer for our friend. For some of us that might even mean twice a day. I thought I would pass it along to you all as well. As I bring my requests each day, I will do so remembering what Hebrews 4:16 states: “Let us then approach the throne of grace with CONFIDENCE, … Continue reading 12:00

Encouragement for Wednesday

Tonight I sat down to write a post and I just can’t find the words. I wanted to do something about some very heavy prayer requests. I was going to explain that I believe we should “approach the throne of grace with confidence” (Hebrews 4:16) yet so often my finite understanding of an infinite God gets in the way. My struggle to make sense of everything hinders my ability to ask for anything. In my search through scripture and various authors, musicians, videos and speakers, I found this. Many have probably seen the incredible Laminin video by Louie Giglio. This … Continue reading Encouragement for Wednesday

When Love Takes You In

Many of the readers of this blog have gone through the adoption process. For those that have, I would like to introduce you to my friend and blogging band of brother Mud Puppy. While he didn’t ask for this and doesn’t know I’m going to do it, it was on my heart this afternoon. You can read the details and follow the journey of his family on his Blog, but they are beginning the steps toward adoption. To those that have walked where he and his wife are about to walk, would you reach out to them? To those that … Continue reading When Love Takes You In

Something Even BIGGER

Well friends, we’re back from a whirlwind 72 hour tour of Charlotte, North Carolina. Some of you may be looking at that picture and saying…”that looks like Columbus, Ohio”. If you did, you’re right. It is. On the heels of the big announcement from Friday, I have an even more wild and crazy one. The Conrad Family is STAYING in Columbus, Ohio! The details will be coming in future posts, but to give you an idea of what the next week to two weeks holds. I’m off to Denver Colorado on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m in Indianapolis on Thursday. We’re … Continue reading Something Even BIGGER

Something Big

In March of this year, we began a journey that took a BIG turn yesterday. Huge. In reviewing that post tonight. I recalled quoting the lyrics of John Waller when he sang: “Something so big, it’s destined to fail without you Lord” Friends, readers and those that may be visiting for the first time, I have an announcement to make…. In a little over two weeks, the Conrad family will become official residence of Charlotte, North Carolina. Yes, you read that correctly. TWO WEEKS! I told you it was big. As late as Tuesday evening, I was just telling … Continue reading Something Big

What Are You Praying For?

These are heavy days aren’t they? I don’t know that I have ever said “I’ll be praying for you” more often then now. Unfortunately, I often make that statement and don’t do the job that I should of following what I said I would do. For that reason, I thought I would make a public offering. There is so much power in prayer. When we enter Gods presence and intercede for one another, we do so believing Gods word to us in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and … Continue reading What Are You Praying For?

"Yours"

While I was checking the RSS feeds tonight I read something I just had to share. All of this is credit to the guys at StereoTruth.net. They posted the news tonight that Steven Curtis Chapman will be touring with Michael W. Smith this fall. While that is incredible, it was the next part of their post that struck me tonight. According to their post, Steven has added an additional verse to his new song “Yours” (Coming August 1st to radio). You can read the entire story on the StereoTruth.net site. When I first heard SCC’s new CD, I was captured … Continue reading "Yours"

Stef Update and Request

Since many people that follow Stef’s blog follow this one as well I thought I would get a quick update on our brother and friend. As most of you know, Stef had surgery a few weeks ago in his battle with colon cancer. His recovery this time has been slowed by a few set backs but he was finally able to return home. He has continued to battle pain and a lack of appetite. Last night Sandi and Stef went to the hospital to the emergency room due to his increased pain and inability to keep anything down. I spoke … Continue reading Stef Update and Request

Good Reads

I decided to start re-reading “Chasing Daylight” again last night. This is one of those books that should be required reading once a year. The message seems to always be very timely. Below are a few underlines from the first time I read this book. “There are things God does for you and things God waits for you to do. The journey begins when you choose. Stop wasting daylight. Choose a life of meaningful adventure. When you do, you will live in the epicenter of God’s activity” “Like Rahab, we are always just one choice from a different life. At … Continue reading Good Reads

Call the Cops!

I need to be arrested. I have been stealing. Not only have I been stealing, but I have been letting others steal my joy. It’s no ones fault but my own. I can identify it, I just don’t seem to be able to do anything about it. So much of it is just the way I am wired. For as long as I can remember I have approached everything in life “beginning with the end in mind”. Not only do I go directly to the end, I usually ask “what is the worst thing that can happen”? I am a … Continue reading Call the Cops!

A Call to Prayer

Many of you have been following the journey of my friend Stef the past few months either through his blog, AC180, my blog or all three. If you are not familiar with Stef, he is an amazing man of God, Christian brother, husband, father and friend. God gave me the blessing of connecting our paths and I am a better person today because of that divine moment. If you would like to know more about Stef, his journey and his family, he has been sharing it through his blog. Today, I want to make a public call to prayer for … Continue reading A Call to Prayer

With Hope….

The news this morning was unbelievable. I had to read it twice to make sure I understood what I had just read. As this day has gone along, I’ve read the other posts, seen the reports and I just couldn’t bring myself to post anything. Not even sure I want to do it now. It is at times like this when I have to be real honest and say I don’t get it. Once again, my finite mind trying to understand an infinite God. I’m sure you have heard already, but Steven Curtis Chapman lost his little 5 year old … Continue reading With Hope….
