Review – "We Cry Out"

Since his first CD, I have been a fan of Jeremy Camp. His testimony gives his lyrics and music so much more than just words and music. As his career has evolved, he has filled Sunday morning services with anthems and has created songs that many identify their personal journeys with. On Tuesday, August 24th, Jeremy Camp will release his 6th studio project called “We Cry Out – The Worship Project”. I had the privilege to preview the CD and it is one you will want to add to your collection.

Jeremy Camp took this project personally. This isn’t just a compilation of great worship music. Camp entered the studio with a mission.

“It’s common to say, ‘Its not about me, God. It’s about You.’ Yet I’m really at that point right now,” Camp admits. “The Lord says in Jeremiah 29:13, ‘You will see me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’ But we live in such a distracted society; we let the world’s noise divide our focus and our hearts. Our generation is in desperate need of crying out to God.”

On “We Cry Out”, Jeremy Camp is creating an opportunity for each of us to listen to reminders of that desperate need to cry out to our God. While more than half of the CD will be familiar to many, the additions Jeremy added are just as worthy of our attention and thoughts. As we listened in the car, my son said “Dad, can you turn that up…we know this song” (Referring to Never Let Go). The song “Overcome” is an incredible anthem to God’s active grace and power. According to Jeremy Camp:

“During the recording, there was a spontaneous moment of worship. The producer raised his hands, and my father was there;  he stood up and worshipped. I had to stop singing from all the emotion. We felt God’s Spirit was so thick in the room – and I would never say that lightly.”

To give some perspective, “Overcome” is 8 minutes long on the CD. I’m told the radio edit will be cut to a little over 3 minutes. After reviewing Jeremy Camp’s latest offering, I have even more admiration for the artist, the man, the father, husband and fellow brother in Christ. I accept his call to step away from the distractions and join him in worship of our Creator. I hope you do too.

I give “We Cry Out” a 5 out of 5.

Disclosure of Material Connection: Overture Media sent me a free copy of this CD. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. This song came across the iPod recently and caught my attention. Ironically enough, it came on at a time when I was reaching the end of a very long run. My legs were weakening and my strength was all but gone. I couldn’t help but think how fitting it was that sometimes it takes a complete break down of our will, our thoughts, or strength to surrender to the Lords will. I cannot personally listen to the words  in a moment of quiet and not be somewhat broken. What a reminder today of who we are and what we are called to do.

If you haven’t heard this song yet, below are the full song and Jeremy Camp’s devotional with a “behind the music” look at why he wrote it.

Louder Than Before!

jeremy_cover_speaking_louderI received an email from my friends at Overture Media about a month ago with an offer to take part in Jeremy Camp Blogger Week. Those that have been here awhile probably know that it took me about 2 seconds to reply to that message. By accepting their offer, I was fortunate enough to receive a free copy of Jeremy’s new CD, Speaking Louder Than Before to review for my blog. Before I go into my review, I would again like to thank Lori at Overture Media for the opportunity to be a part of this exciting week. The Bebo Norman and Jeremy Camp CDs have been in regular rotation the past few weeks! I’m honored to be asked and can’t thank you enough!

I’ve been a big fan of Jeremy Camp since his debut CD hit the streets. If you are not familiar with Jeremy, take a few minutes and read his bio (here). Jeremy has walked through the valleys that so many of us fear and shares his story, his healing and his hope through his music. He has inspired many with his honest and heartfelt lyrics.

No song captures the recent thoughts of this blogger more than the song “There Will Be a Day“. The first release from this incredible CD has put into words what so many that I know are feeling right now. The challenges of this world and the struggles that we each face force each one of us to seek a hope and for something more.  I have talked to at least 2 people in the past few weeks that literally drove around in their car until the song ended to hear the artist and song title because it had impacted them so much. Praise the Lord that there will be a day!

The rest of the CD is signature Jeremy Camp. He mixes rocking songs like the title track “Speaking Louder Than Before” and “I’m Alive” with worship anthems like “The Healing Hand of God“, “Surrender” and “So In Love“. With the Christmas season right around the corner, this CD would make the perfect gift for anyone you know that is a Jeremy Camp fan. I would also recommend “Speaking Louder Than Before” for anyone that is going through the trials and struggles of our journey here. The reminder that “There Will Be A Day” will encourage and bring hope to those that believe.

Thanks again Lori and Overture for the opportunity! You’ve made this Jeremy Camp fan very appreciative and blessed!

There Will Be A Day

The new Jeremy Camp CD, Speaking Louder Than Before,  hits the streets on November 25th! Most of you know I’m a pretty big fan of Jeremy Camp. The first release from the new CD is called “There Will Be a Day”. If you have not heard it yet, I highly recommend going over to iTunes and downloading it. You can also hear it at his web site (HERE). Incredible song. The video below is a behind the music look at what Jeremy was thinking when he wrote it.

I mentioned this last week, but I recently received an unexpected email invitation from the great people at overture-media to review the soon-to-be released Jeremy Camp CD. If you have followed the blog for a long time, you probably noted that I’m a big fan of Jeremy Camp. It was an honor to be asked. Look for that review in a few weeks. Can’t wait to check that CD out. It promises to be a great release.

As an added bonus, Lori from Overture-media sent me the new release from Bebo Norman too. I had no idea she was going to send it and cannot thank her enough for the kind gift. It meant even more because the CD is fantastic. I’ve been a fan of Bebo Norman for a while, but this CD came along at the perfect time. Several songs spoke directly to me at a time when I needed to hear them the most.

Of my favorites is the song “One Bright Hour“. If you’re looking for Christmas ideas, or just something new to listen to, check out the self titled CD from Bebo Norman. You’ll be glad you did.
