Soulja Boy

This song and dance is everywhere. After seeing some little kids performing it while I was at the Ohio State Basketball game tonight, I am determined to teach it to Brynn. Since the last dance craze I know and can remember is the electric slide, I went looking for some help. Who else to have as your personal dance instructor than Lebron James himself? For those that have missed it (I might be the only one)…here’s how to “Soulja Boy” Continue reading Soulja Boy

All Pro Dad Kickoff Recap

It’s official, Northwest Columbus now has an All Pro Dad chapter. 32 Dads and approximately 60 children came out early Saturday morning to share breakfast together, have some laughs and take the first step on a journey of being All Pro Dads. I was overwhelmed by the response. From friends like Clay and Stef to some new Dads I have never met, they were all there to make a statement. By attending, they were saying that they are committed to investing time into the most important gift we have ever been given…our children. To all that came out, thank you! … Continue reading All Pro Dad Kickoff Recap

You're a Father Forever

One of the things that struck me when I read the “10 Ways to be an All Pro Dad” was number 10 which states to “Realize that You’re a Father Forever”. As we go through the phases of childhood with all three of our children, I find myself often looking ahead and hoping we “get through this phase soon”. The reality of that statement is that the phases change, but my role as a Dad never ends. The phases, challenges, changes, wisdom and guidance continue on. Dad’s, our role is huge. The investment is well worth the time. As we … Continue reading You're a Father Forever

"Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman

I have been waiting and waiting for the last 2 weeks for a good opportunity to post this song. My buddy Clay gave me one tonight. You see, tonight at 6:30, Clay and his wife Christine entered a whole new dimension. They welcomed a little daughter into this world. This isn’t their first child, but it is their first little girl. Now it starts. Now songs like this one from Steven Curtis Chapman take on a whole new meaning. Congratulations Clay and Christine. Get your dancin’ shoes on. Here’s your long distance dedication! “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman from the … Continue reading "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman

Stealing Cinderella

I gotta lay off of the country music. Actually, once again, my sister called to give me fair warning on this one. No sooner did I get in the car and it came on the radio. Just when I recovered from “I Loved Her First” by Heartland, along came “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. Now there’s this one. Let me put it this way..Ya’ll gotta stop this. Somehow, I have to get through two “fellas” stealing my Cinderellas! As I am typing this, I am reminded that I guess I stole someones Cinderella once too. “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck … Continue reading Stealing Cinderella

Somewhere in the World

This morning our church held a baptism service. It was much more powerful and moving then I would have expected. Everyone from a small little girl, to brothers, a couple that was engaged and even a man that was older in his years were baptized. Of note was our pastor baptizing his future son-in-law (his daughter just got engaged yesterday).I couldn’t help but think of the song below and that somewhere in this world, a little girl and 2 little boys are already chosen for my children. God has circled the day they would meet on his calendar. He knows … Continue reading Somewhere in the World

Happy Birthday “Mema”

Although this is a “repost” of something I wrote 2 years ago, nothing has changed. I am still wrapped and powerless against my little girl. My “Mema” turns 4 today and the time is flying by. She will always be my little girl!I have always heard the phrase “Daddy’s Little Girl” but until recently never had a grasp on the whole concept. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I love my little girls just as much as I love my son, but I think there comes a point when you get bitten by the “bug” and everything changes. It’s pretty amazing … Continue reading Happy Birthday “Mema”
