Awana Grand Prix

It’s that time of year again. This is the first year that we have two entries into the Awana Grand Prix on Friday night. This is the first for our daughter and the third car for our son. Each year, the brainstorming session into what we should create out of a block of wood is half the fun. As you can see by the pictures, my daughters was easy. A little pink paint and some Hello Kitty stickers and she was all set. “The Boy” on the other hand presented some challenges… The vision was to create a convertible UNC … Continue reading Awana Grand Prix

Your Smiling Face

My youngest has not been herself for a little over a week now. She has been battling various flu bugs that have dampened her mood. I’m happy to report that she woke up this morning with her smiling face back on. I couldn’t help but sing her this song (I break out in song for unknown reasons quite often actually). Now I can’t get it out of my head. I thought I’d share it so you won’t be able to get it out of your head too. Keep Smiling đŸ™‚ Continue reading Your Smiling Face

Presence

About 3 weeks ago, I started running again. That is an entirely different post for a different day. One of my favorite “treadmill songs” is “Presence” by Newsboys. There is just something about that song that makes me feel like I am requesting Gods presence even in the midst of gasping for air and sweating like crazy. Over the past week or so, my youngest daughter (3 years old) has started to do something during my treadmill time that is really special to me. While I am running, she comes with toys, a game, or something to occupy her time … Continue reading Presence

Your Moment

I like the commercials for ATT Small Business where the actors say “Welcome to my moment“. I couldn’t help but think of them today while I was cutting the grass. No, I didn’t have “my moment” cutting the grass. Actually, I was reflecting on Austin’s “moment” on Thursday night when they won the Hilliard Little League World Series. During the big rally inning (came back from down 12-4 to go ahead 15-12) Austin had a key double in the gap to clear the bases. When I looked in the stands his Mom and his Aunts were both crying with joy … Continue reading Your Moment

I.O.U by Jimmy Dean You know most people look through their wallets or their pocket books and, way down at the bottom, past the credit cards and baby pictures, green stamps, you usually find a little ‘ol dog-eared piece of poetry. I was cleaning out my wallet the other day and ran across a whole bunch of I.O.U’s, some of ‘em thirty years overdue. The funny thing is that all these I.O.U’s are owed to one person and I kinda feel like right now might be a pretty good time for an accountin’. Mom, you listenin’? Mom, I.O.U. for so … Continue reading Sunday is Mother’s Day

Behind the Music – Cinderella

By now most of you have probably heard “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman. I knew the minute I heard it I was toast. Since then I have posted it a few times. The clip below is S.C.C explaining why and when he wrote this song. Today happens to be my daughters 3rd birthday so I can absolutely relate to his explanation. To my daughter Brynn, I wish you a happy birthday. May I grasp every moment before the clock strikes midnight. Continue reading Behind the Music – Cinderella

For The Love Of…

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane…shall we? For those that have followed this thing since the beginning, you might remember when I wrote a post 3 years ago about a dilemma I was having (HERE). Matter of fact, last time the Tar Heels played for a championship, Heather almost had a baby…literally! (Details HERE) So it just seems appropriate that we are steamrolling our way into Final Four weekend and the Karma is everywhere. See if you can follow the bouncing ball on this one. You might have noticed that I am trying to discern a major decision which … Continue reading For The Love Of…

I said…You heard…

Kids and lessons from our Heavenly Father go hand in hand don’t they? The timing is sometimes scary. This morning was one of those moments. Let me explain. Last night as I tucked my daughter into bed, we were discussing “All Pro Dad” (APD) on Saturday. She gets very excited every month to attend APD. So when she awoke this morning, she was all excited to go. One problem, APD is on Saturday and today is Wednesday. I tried to explain that to her but it didn’t seem to help her disappointment. I explained that “I said it was on … Continue reading I said…You heard…

Saturday's All Pro Dad Day!

Wow…where did March go? A new month must mean that this Saturday is another All Pro Dad day. The topic this month is “Caring for the less fortunate“. We are privileged to have a guest speaker from Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio with us. He will share a little bit about Faith Mission, but even more exciting is what will happen between our meetings in April and May. Based on the information from our guest speaker, Dads and kids will have the opportunity to spend the month gathering needed items and raising awareness of the less fortunate in our community. … Continue reading Saturday's All Pro Dad Day!
