Crucified With Christ

Crucified With Christ by Phillips, Craig and Dean As I look back on what I thought was living I’m amazed at the price I choose to pay And to think I ignored what really mattered Cause I thought the sacrifice would be too great But when I finally reached the point of giving in I found the cross was calling even then And even though it took dying to survive I’ve never felt so much alive. CHORUS: For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live Not I but Christ that lives within me His Cross will never ask … Continue reading Crucified With Christ

Guess what Wii got?

As the snow accumulated outside today, the UPS man made true on his promise and “Brown Delivered for Me”. Last week I had to burn through my last few American Express Rewards points (I’m sure gonna miss those) so I got the family a Wii fit. I figured the kiddos and Heather would love it. I also thought it would fit (no pun intended) nicely in my goal  of  “cleaning up this old honky-tonk” (me). So after dinner we cleared the living room and lit this candle! After what seemed like 3 hours of setting up each of the members … Continue reading Guess what Wii got?

A Reason To Celebrate!

The service for our friend Stefan Tarapchak yesterday was wonderful. The choir and Allen Lowe did an incredible job of singing songs of praise and hope. I was so proud of Sandi as she delivered a memorial speech to Stef. While it was, at times difficult, this morning I rejoice. As a matter of fact, I can’t get away from how excited I am this morning. I keep thinking that Stef would have wanted it this way. What would he have wanted??? SEVERAL people accepted Christ as their personal Savior at the end of service yesterday. I rejoice that Stef’s … Continue reading A Reason To Celebrate!

The Remedy

What a week it has been. I have always had a rule to leave politics out of my blog. I’m not going to change any of that now. Yet I sit here today with such a mixed bag of emotions. Reading articles and comments on blogs, facebook and twitter has been quite an experience. I go from inspired to disappointed. I go from angered to completely perplexed. All of these emotions have nothing to do with the election. They are all based on the posts and responses leading up to and following the election from Christian brothers and sisters. I … Continue reading The Remedy

In A Day

I need to apologize for a third straight day of Youtube posting, but this is too rich to not pass along. As I read the continued  fallout about the writer of the song “Healer”, I was reminded of the words in the Casting Crowns song “Slow Fade”. Quite simply stated “people never crumble in a day“. Mark Hall does a great job in a very brief video of explaining the process by which this can happen. Continue reading In A Day

Healer

Update: If you came looking for the song “Healer” by Hillsong it has been pulled from YouTube. If you’re wondering why it has been pulled from YouTube, that story is (HERE). What an absolutely sad and disappointing report today. Let’s pray for Mike Guglielmucci. We’re all guilty of making the wrong choices at times in our life. Clearly Mike has made a very bad choice in this case too. I pray Gods mercy and the mercy of those that will be critical of his decision. Don’t let this story deter you from purchasing the Hillsong “This is Our God” CD. … Continue reading Healer

Follow Up Moment

In order to understand this post, you probably will want to read the one before it entitled “I Missed My Moment“. I did take the opportunity to go and visit the man I mentioned in my previous post today. His name is Mike and I’d like to introduce you to him. Mike is a Vietnam Vet who is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. He was diagnosed in 1995 with the disease but believes it started at least 10 years prior to that. He is married to his 5th wife who recently had her Gall Bladder removed as well. She has been … Continue reading Follow Up Moment

Get Expelled This Summer…Again!

I received an email this evening from a subscriber to my blog that has an opportunity for each of us to consider. It is my honor to share something this important through my site. Below is an excerpt of the email I received… “I am subscriber of your blog…..I have enjoyed reading and listening your blog for sometime now…. Can you help me with something? I am in charge of the re-release of our film Expelled…The goal is to gain 1,000 new theaters to release the film….over the summer…We are booking new theaters now… The caveat is that we need … Continue reading Get Expelled This Summer…Again!

The Friend of a Wounded Heart

A few weeks ago this song by Wayne Watson came across iTunes and through my office speakers. I stopped what I was doing and listened to it several times to let it soak in. It has been resonating with me ever since. These are heavy days for so many that I know. We need Jesus to meet us where we are don’t we? So often I have heard that phrase and never really understood what it meant. This morning I witnessed first hand what it means. This morning I was blessed and touched by a choir from a homeless shelter … Continue reading The Friend of a Wounded Heart

He's Not Here!

“You Reign” by MercyMe 4But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’ … Continue reading He's Not Here!

The Legend of Silent Night

Bellau Wood – By Garth Brooks Oh, the snowflakes fell in silence Over Belleau Wood that night For a Christmas truce had been declared By both sides of the fight As we lay ther in our trenches The silence broke in two By a German soldier singing A song that we all knew Though I did not know the language The song was “Silent Night” Then I heard my buddy whisper, “All is calm and all is bright” Then the fear and doubt surrounded me ‘Cause I’d die if I was wrong But I stood up in my trench And … Continue reading The Legend of Silent Night

Traditions

A few weeks ago, while I was outside “rigging up the lights”, the rest of the family was inside decorating for Christmas. For some reason, they didn’t want to be anywhere near me while I performed said task. Wonder why… When I reappeared in the house, my son announced that he had put the manger out, but he “didn’t put Jesus in the manger”. All of the fog from the task of hanging the lights was gone in an instant. For in that moment, a tradition that began when I was a child growing up was carried on for another … Continue reading Traditions

The Lord of the Gift

One blessing I can never put into words is the blessing of some great friends in my life. I say this not to boast, rather that I am amazed at the way that God has intertwined our lives in his providence. As I was reading about spiritual gifts in “If You Want to Walk on Water” by John Ortberg, I couldn’t help but think of two friends in particular. Both have given me gifts recently that are irreplaceable, unforgettable and treasured. Both gifts were not necessary, but were given because both of these individuals have, what I consider, the spiritual … Continue reading The Lord of the Gift

Refine Me

“…See I will refine and test them, for what else can I do…” (Jeremiah 9:7) In the movie “Bruce Almighty”, Jim Carrey is given ultimate power. However, one of the rules is that he cannot mess with free will. In one of his discussions with God (Morgan Freeman), he says “how can I make someone love me without messing with free will?”. To which God replies “If you can figure it out, let me know. I have been trying for years”. Our walk would be so easy if it wasn’t for that darn free will. As Jennifer Knapp sings “Lord, … Continue reading Refine Me

A Father’s Love

I once heard this story and thought it appropriate for this week. As a young boy and his father sat in the doctors office, the doctor motioned to the father to come out in the hall with him. As they stood in the hallway, the doctor delivered the news that this mans young son had an inoperable tumor which would soon take his life. The father told the doctor that he would like to be the one to tell his son the news. The doctor agreed and the father and son went home. As they stood in the backyard, the … Continue reading A Father’s Love

Somewhere in the World

This morning our church held a baptism service. It was much more powerful and moving then I would have expected. Everyone from a small little girl, to brothers, a couple that was engaged and even a man that was older in his years were baptized. Of note was our pastor baptizing his future son-in-law (his daughter just got engaged yesterday).I couldn’t help but think of the song below and that somewhere in this world, a little girl and 2 little boys are already chosen for my children. God has circled the day they would meet on his calendar. He knows … Continue reading Somewhere in the World
