Thousand Foot Krutch The Afters 2011 in Review – The night @austinaconrad and I rocked with @OfficialTFK and The Afters at the Rock and Worship Roadshow. Continue reading 2011 in Review – TFK

After many changes, tweeks, additions and subtractions, I present for your (dis)approval my Nashville Half Marathon playlist. In the morning we will push off for Nashville and on Saturday morning I’ll hit the streets with these songs pumping through the iPod. Last year I recorded my worst half marathon time in Nashville and anticipate shattering that with an even worse final time this year. Due to an abbreviated training, several physical ailments and issues, the goal on Saturday is to FINISH. These songs should help. Let the debate begin… Continue reading Nashville Half Marathon Playlist
I’m not sure about you, but I have had just about enough of this rain. I’m not a guy that gets too up or down with the changes in the weather, but this has been an amazing run of precipitation. A few weeks ago I put down some grass seed (which STILL hasn’t started to grow) so I actually welcomed the free watering of the lawn. Not anymore. So, in order to break up the madness a bit, I started threads on facebook and twitter yesterday. On facebook, I simply said “Songs about rain…GO”. On twitter, I began quoting lyrics … Continue reading Songs About Rain
Word cannot express…. Continue reading How Great Thou Art
A few weeks ago our awesome sound team at Journey Church played some Petra for the before service background music. I have been singing “Grave Robber” ever since. That prompted me to post a thread onfacebook this morning about Petra. We’ve got a pretty good discussion going on over there so I figured I would bring it here too. My question is this: What is your favorite Petra song or memory? I remember seeing them in concert and thinking “Judas Kiss” was “hard rock”. Compared to what my 10 year old and I are listening to now, Petra is lite rock … Continue reading Way Back Wednesday – Petra
I was discussing my love of the soon-to-be released FM Static CD “My Brain Says Stop But My Heart Says GO!” with my dear friend Lori yesterday. She was kind enough to arrange an interview with FM Static and Thousand Foot Krutch Frontman Trevor McNevan. For those not familiar with FM Static (yet), 2 of the members of the band are also members of Thousand Foot Krutch (my absolutely favorite band). FM Static is a side project you’re going to want to check out. The new CD drops on April 5th. I’ll be giving a copy away soon so stay … Continue reading My Interview With FM Static
It’s been well documented here, but “the boy” and I love us some Thousand Foot Krutch. So when a few of the guys from TFK stepped on a side project for a band called “FM Static“, it should be no surprise that I’m following along. Coming April 5th will be the new CD from FM Static called “My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go”. Thanks to my friend Lori, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to it and it’s SLAMMIN’! Then again, I am a bit biased. Check out the song below and see for yourself. They have … Continue reading FM Static
I could not let this upcoming date pass without noting it’s importance. It’s not a date that jumps out on my calendar, but it is a date that will forever remain a thankful day for the family of Steven Curtis Chapman. You see, it was on February 20, 2008 that their precious daughter Maria Sue Chapman accepted Jesus into her heart. On that date, she wrote her name in the book of life. As you all know by now, Maria Sue was tragically killed not long after that day. I chose this moment, this date to remind myself how thankful … Continue reading February 20th
I might be late for the party on this band but I am seriously digging “Red” right now. I’m actually a little disappointed that I missed them a few weeks ago when we went to the Winter Jam tour (they performed before we got there). I am pumped that we’ll get to see them this summer at Creationfest. That is going to be a ROCKIN’ couple of days for the family and I. Today I pumped the latest CD from Red in my ipod and hit the streets. It was my first run outside in several weeks and to be … Continue reading Not Alone
So I’ve been talking about the Rock and Worship Roadshow for several months now. I’ve been talking about Thousand Foot Krutch even longer. Little did I know when “the boy” and I left for Dayton what the evening had in store. Once we arrived at the Nutter Center, thanks to our shirts we jumped the line and quickly found a place to sit. We enjoyed hearing Anthem Lights, Matt Maher, Jars of Clay and The Afters but there was really only two bands we were there to see. MercyMe and Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) didn’t disappoint AT ALL!
One thing about social media (good or bad) is that it thrusts you into the lives of others. It’s almost scriptural in that we can rejoice with those rejoice and mourn with those that mourn. If there was a year 2011 version of the bible it was say “Like status updates with those that rejoice and unlike status updates with those who mourn”. Regardless, it can make or break your day when you care enough about your friends and read whats going on in their lives. I post this today for several friends that are having a tough go of … Continue reading The Reason For The World
If you’re checking the blog to see me go on a rant after the Tar Heels lose to Duke it’s not going to happen. It’s all good. I won’t go into any analysis (although I have tons of it). I won’t go into cliches about moral victories or better teams. Tomorrow is another day (oops, that was a cliche wasn’t it). Literally though, tomorrow is another day and tomorrow night is going to be a GREAT night. “The boy” and I have our shirts to jump the line and we’re headed to Dayton for The Rock and Worship Roadshow. Cannot … Continue reading All Good
Last night at dinner, my wife asked a GREAT question. Before I get to her question, let me give you some background information. My wife listens to music “recreationally”. In other words, if it is on she will listen to it, but she doesn’t need music to be on to complete whatever task she is working on (driving, running, working around the house). I on the other hand need music to be on at all times. Music is like a soundtrack for my life. I can give you specific things I was doing when I hear a song, or tell … Continue reading What Makes A Great Song?
Tonight’s the big night…It’s time to announce the winner in my “Crazy Love” giveaway for the new Hawk Nelson CD…appropriately called…”Crazy Love”. This was, by far, the highest traffic giveaway I have ever done. That is 99.9% (the rest might have been human error and had nothing to do with me) because of Hawk Nelson and their incredible following. This CD is only going to grow that fan base and make those that are already fans of this band that much stronger. It is one of their best. I’ve been listening to it for about a week now and can’t … Continue reading “Crazy Love” Winner!!
On Thursday, February 10th, “The Boy” and I will be lighting up the sky in Dayton, Ohio. Since they announced the tour dates for the Rock and Worship Roadshow, we have eagerly anticipated this date! Obviously the driver for us was to once again rock out to our favorite band, Thousand Foot Krutch, but we’re pretty pumped to also see MercyMe, Jars of Clay and the band in the video below, The Afters. We even ordered the shirts to allow us to jump the line so we can be one of the first to get in. Hopefully we’ll be front … Continue reading Light Up The Sky
