Little known fact (and probably for a good reason), when I was in 8th grade, I traveled with a choir to Germany, Austria and Sweden. The tour was themed “The Sound of Music” and we spent time at several of the landmarks from the classic film. Another little known fact is that the gazebo where he sang “you are sixteen” is now a gift shop. So now you know 2 things that you didn’t know prior to reading this post.
Now, in case you missed it, the brilliant Carrie Underwood is going to perform songs from the classic musical on Thursday, December 5th at 8:00pm. It probably spends up anything I had left on my man card, or throws me into a debt limit, but I’ll be watching with the family. The Sound of Music will always hold a special place in my heart thanks to that little trip in the 8th grade. Introducing my kids to the songs from the film will be much easier because they are performed by one of their favorite artists. Here’s a quick peak:
