One of my favorite things about this blog over the years is the opportunity to share various books I get to review with my kids. Whenever the offer comes to review another children’s book, I am very quick to say “yes” because I know the girls will cherish it. I recently had such an opportunity and this one had some “6 degrees of separation” kind of connections to it. Today I am reviewing the new book by author Angie Smith called “Audrey Bunny.”
Before I jump into the review, I have to say that I am a fan of the Christian Band Selah. Many of their songs are on regular rotation on my praise and worship playlist. The lead singer of Selah is a man named Todd Smith. If that last name looks familiar, it’s because it’s the same as the author of this book. Angie and Todd smith live in my adopted city of Nashville and we share a few friends. I don’t know Todd and Amy, but the friends that we share mutually think the world of them. Since I think so highly of our mutual friends, I think highly of them too. I’ve also heard Angie speak at CrossPoint Church (my adopted church in the south) and was blown away by what she shared. As you can see, I’m a fan.
When “Audrey Bunny” showed up on our doorstep, I waited until the girls got home so they could unpack and read it. My youngest (age 8) sat down with mom and read the book cover to cover. It’s no surprise that she is the one that connected with this precious story because she is our child that loves her stuffed animals. She has a very tender heart towards them and takes the best care of each one. It’s the perfect book for her and so well written.
I won’t give away the details of this book, but if you have little ones that love their stuffed animals, this will be a treasure for them as well. The artwork is so well done and the story brings life to it’s main characters. The message of “Audrey Bunny” is one that is perfect for young children to hear. Here’s a quick trailer:
I give Audrey Bunny a 5 out of 5.
