FM Static Review and Giveaway

How do you judge, review and come to the conclusion that a CD is “good”? I’m often guilty of rushing to a judgement when hearing a CD for the first few times to say that it was “alright”. Yet the more I hear it the more I love it. Some of my favorite CD’s of all time were actually originally thought to be just “alright”.

Then there are those times when a CD comes along that is, without question, GREAT.

You know it the first time you hear it. Each song feels like you’ve known it forever. It all just comes together and you want to hear it again and again. Welcome to the new CD by FM Static called “My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go!”.

You may have never heard of FM Static before so let me give a little background from their press release:

Fans of Thousand Foot Krutch have been enjoying the sounds of FM Static, the summery pop-rock side-project, since their 2003 debut.  The counterpart will be releasing their fourth studio project, My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go, on April 5, 2011 on Tooth & Nail Records. This release finds primary figureheads Trevor McNevan and Steve Augustine (both of Thousand Foot Krutch fame) turning in its most melodic, memorable and meaningful album to date that will make it feel like summer outside no matter what the season.

Now before you write FM Static off as anything like Thousand Foot Krutch, let me stop you right there. This is completely and totally different. The sound is much less edgy and much more melodic and infections. Throughout the CD, you will feel as if you have found a new cd from the 80’s that was never released. It’s a complete throwback to a time when the music was fun, bright and melodic. You really have to hear it to know what I mean. I can’t stop listening to it…honestly. So here’s your chance….

I am going to give away one copy of “My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Say Go!” to a lucky reader of this blog. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post to be entered in the drawing. I’ll pull a name out of a hat next week when the CD drops and let the winner know. I cannot recommend highly enough that if you’re reading this, you should leave your name. You’ll LOVE this CD.

Now for some resources. You can stream some of the CD to hear it for yourself (HERE). You can pre-order the CD (HERE). Order yours today and get your summer started early. You’ll be glad you did!

I give “My Brain Says Stop But My Heart Says Go” a HUGE 5 out of 5!

  2. Great review!! Like you, I’m a huge TFK fan who became an FM Static fan. It’s pretty awesome how different yet still good both of them are. I’m not usually that into pop, but I love FM Static. Definitely looking forward to this album!

    1. Thanks Kristen. I have had this CD on constant rotation for a few weeks now. It is excellent. Totally agree with how different it is, yet still great.
