Review – "Stuff Christians Like"

Where has this book been all of my Christian life? On the heels of some pretty heavy books (“Crazy Love” and “Jesus Wants To Save Christians“), I decided to lighten it up a bit and read “Stuff Christians Like” by Jonathan Acuff. I am so glad I did. I spent the better part of two flights across the United States chuckling in my seat as I poured through the thick sarcasm and hilarious look at things like prayer, church and God. I’m pretty sarcastic so this book was right up my alley.

“Stuff Christians Like” is a series of small notes which will keep you entertained and laughing throughout the entire book. As a “PK” (Pastors Kid), Acuff has certainly found the humor in the church and very sarcastically brought it all out to read. If you have spent time around the church, there are sure to be more than a few times where you will instantly connect with what he is talking about. He also adds in several references to music from the 80’s, 90’s, movies and television which add even more to this priceless collection.

What I respect most about this book is that Acuff dedicates the final chapter to more serious and well written thoughts about his faith. He makes great analogies and pulls the entire book together by driving home some key points and insight. He also shows that he has the ability to be very funny and yet deliver wonderful points about Christianity. I recommend “Stuff Christians Like” to all that have the opportunity to read it.

I give “Stuff Christians Like” a 5 out of 5!

I read it in one sitting and laughed out loud through the whole thing. It’s just awesome.
Can’t believe I hadn’t even been following his blog! It’s really great, too.
