Required Listening

2007 October 24

I have been on a CD listening frenzy lately! I’ll have to do another one of those review posts sometime soon with some of the good (Steven Curtis Chapman’s “This Moment”) and the not so good (Carrie Underwood’s “Carnival Ride”). There are two that I have listened to this week that I consider to be required listening! They are as follows:

johnwaller.jpgJohn Waller – “The Blessing“. I’m not sure where he came from, but this CD is incredible. I posted the video to “Still Calls Me Son” earlier this week and used the song “While I’m Waiting” for Heathers slide show. This is a great CD. If you are looking to download tracks, the two I just mentioned and “The Blessing” are three songs that can’t miss. The entire CD is great though. 5 out of 5!

building_429_iris.jpgAs good as that CD is, I am absolutely wearing out the new Building 429 CD “Iris to Iris“. this week. I cannot get enough of it. It is just that good. Below is one song that has just crushed me all week. Maybe it’s the weight of some prayer requests I have for friends, or the on going refining in my own life. Whatever the reason, this song has been on constant repeat this week. 5 out of 5!

I know the scripture, I’ve known the songs
I sang the words from my hollowed heart
But You’ve spoken softly through the storm
I’ve heard Your voice and I’ve felt the calm
I stand only because You’ve given me faith to walk

You Carried Me” by Building 429 from the CD “Iris to Iris

Sweet! So glad you keep us on the music front! We love your choice in music an agree…we can’t WAIT for MercyMe! I think Brent will really enjoy the Waller guy. I liked the tribute to Heather song. :-) Brent just graced me with an iPod for our anniversary, so I’ll be doin’ a little listening now!

John Waller’s been around awhile. If you can find an old one he’s done, “Standing Ovation” – that one’s really good, too.
